Why Agile isn't Working - Even when You are Doing It

 

Most organizations are running agile.

They have the ceremonies, the boards, the terminology.

And still delivery is unpredictable and leadership is losing confidence.

Three patterns break agile programs more reliably than anything else:

​

1. Agile is for the teams but not for leadership.

Teams run sprints while leadership still operates on annual plans, fixed budgets, and waterfall expectations. The two worlds never connect.

​

2. The roles exist on paper but not in practice.

Scrum Masters run meetings instead of coaching. Product Owners relay messages instead of making decisions. Nobody showed them the difference or gave them the support to actually live the role.

​

3. The operating model was set up once and never revisited.

Programs grow, priorities shift, teams change but the structure stays frozen from day one. What worked at launch breaks at scale.

 

 

These are fixable.

But only if you address the whole system at once.

Purpose

Most Agile as well as SAP transformations don't fail because of the technology. They fail because nobody owns the operating model that makes execution work at scale.

I support organizations in designing and stabilizing SAP + SAFe operating models - with a growing focus on how AI tools and frameworks can be integrated into complex transformation programs in a way that actually works.

I have extensive experience in enterprise-scale transformations, and I have worked across various industries including aviation, rail, insurance, and retail. I bring deep expertise in Scrum, SAFe, as well as Lean Portfolio Management. My clients usually operate in SAP-driven landscapes where organizational structures, governance, and delivery models must work reliably together. 

Additionally, I have written practical guides on enterprise agility and portfolio management. My work combines strategic clarity with hands-on experience, offering actionable insights to navigate complexity and improve execution.
